Poltava observed the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War

On the 2nd of September the world observes the 70th anniversary of the Second World War. Today, hundreds of citizens of Poltava, veterans, the leaders of Poltava Regional State Administration and Poltava Regional Council, the City Council, young people came to the Soldiers Fame memorial to honor the fallen soldiers and victims of war. After they observed the victims with a minute of silence people laid flowers to the monument.
This day in 1945 aboard the US battleship “Missouri” was signed the Act of capitulation of Japan by representatives of Japan, the US, China, Great Britain and the Soviet Union. From the side of Soviet Union it was signed by Ukrainian from Uman, Lieutenant General Kuzma Derevyanko.
