Representatives of Advisory Mission of the European Union to reform civil security sector in Ukraine visited Poltava. In the delegation are the specialists on regional cooperation Stanislav Bezovski and Pekka Hyuyutiaynen.
Advisory EU mission in Ukraine has started to work in 2014. The main object is to help to reorganize the police to make people trust them. The Mission is working with the Ministry of the Interior, the National Guard, the National Security and Defence, State Border Service, the Security Service at central and regional levels. Now they study the possibility of introducing system projects in Poltava region aimed at enhancing public safety, traffic, protection of strategic facilities, prevention of emergencies and more.
– Member States of the European Union have expressed their support. Today we want to talk about the general state of civil security sector in order to identify potential areas of future cooperation – says an expert of regional issues of Advisory EU mission Pekka Hyuyutiaynen.
Also visitors were interested in a territorial reform.
– In Poltava already approved the draft of perspective plan of forming capable communities’ areas. The document stipulates that on the basis of today’s 503 local councils will operate 57 associations. The essence of decentralization – the maximum transmission of authority and financial instruments to the regions for their implementation – said Acting Director of the Department of Economic Development of Poltava Regional State Administration Dmytro Orlov.
Andriy Pisotskyy, First Deputy Governor, said that Poltava is open to cooperation. Domestic law enforcement officers must correspond to the European, expressly follow the law. Only then our citizens will trust the law enforcement system.
As a result – the sides agreed on close cooperation and new appointments.
