6(1)

Three young citizens of Poltava already have what to tell in the essay “How did I spend last summer”. Last week they represented Ukraine in the camp of young shooters “Zhalhiris” in Lithuania.

We would remind you that on 18th of July 10 children from different parts of Ukraine went to Lithuania. Their purpose was to train in a camp of young shooters “Zhalhiris”, deployed on one of the training grounds of the Armed Forces of Lithuania. Besides representatives of Ukraine in the camp were children from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

All young representatives from Ukraine are children of ATO members, active volunteers and internal migrants. Alina P’yatash – stepdaughter of Dmytro Kit from Kobeliaky, soldier who was killed in the east. Julia Captur represented Poltava. Her dad and mom are volunteers who regularly travel to the front line.
Another participant – Ulyana Yalova – lives in Kremenchug. Her mother (military doctor Tatiana, who accompanied the group) has left to ATO area. However, we were able to talk to her on the phone and she told us about her impressions.

According to her, the conditions in the camp were close to military – the rise at 6 am, physical activities, lectures. In fact, the organizers tried to fill all the time of children. Yet to the Ukrainian side they made certain concessions.

The working language for this international project was English. At the end of tour children went to the walking trip.

In general, children have a positive experience of being in camp “Zhalhiris.” In particular, they got a lot of friends from the Baltic countries. They will continue to communicate further.

The organizers of the camp were: the Lithuanian Union of Sooters, Foundation “Union 1219” and the Embassy of Lithuania in Ukraine. Ukrainian partners are family of Oksana and Victor Dyachenko and the Chairman of the Poltava Regional State Administration Valeriy Golovko.
